One To World Walk: The Changing Cultures of Astoria, Queens

Join One To World for this guided tour of historical Astoria, Queens! This diverse neighborhood, opposite Manhattan's Upper East Side, is experiencing many demographic changes; Italians and Greeks are being replaced by Arabs, Bosnians, Brazilians, Mexicans and young professionals. Led by Dr. Jack Eichenbaum, a Queens native and Official Borough Historian, you will discover the changing cultures of Astoria. Following the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

Community Service Beach Clean-Up Day

An Evening of Wine Tasting

Learn from an expert about a variety of wines in a relaxed cocktail party setting. The wine tasting evenings at Moore Brothers Wine Company are modeled after demonstrations that Greg Moore taught for over twenty years in the Special Programs Division of the University of Pennsylvania's College of General Studies. The evening will include a short introduction, followed by a tasting of six related wines accompanied by tasting notes.

Led by Anthony Bowman, a specialist in Black Manhattan, you will discover Harlem’s rich history, culture, and contemporary landscape. Following the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and sample some traditional “soul food.”

Student Conference on United States Affairs at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point

Represent your country and share your views on world affairs as a member of a select delegation of international students! Join American college students and foreign affairs professionals from around the country to discuss and debate U.S. foreign policy. Community Visit: Thanksgiving in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Celebrate this U.S. holiday as most Americans do—with family! Travel to this small community in Pennsylvania for a four-day weekend of local culture and family fun. Community Service: Help the Hungry and Homeless

One To World volunteers will distribute food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless on the streets of New York City, in partnership with the non-profit Midnight Run. This unique late-night relief effort creates a forum of trust, sharing, understanding and human exchange. Come help by meeting the hungry and homeless of New York and distributing food that you help to prepare at the beginning of the evening.
